Kathleen Ann Emmett
A Life of Stories, Nature, and Purpose
Kathleen Emmett brings a lifetime of experience, observation, and thoughtful reflection to her writing. Born and raised in Montana, she spent part of her early life on a small farm near the Canadian border, where wide skies and quiet landscapes helped shape her deep appreciation for nature and the rhythms of the natural world.
Kathleen earned her degree in English from Eastern Montana College before moving with her family to Washington State. She later completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College and spent nearly thirty years working for the Washington State Department of Ecology. During her career, she worked as a planner, inspector, and supervisor in environmental programs, authoring and co-authoring numerous technical documents focused on solid waste and water quality.
Her professional work strengthened her understanding of how human choices affect land, water, and communities. These experiences helped inspire the thoughtful themes that appear in her writing today.
Now retired and living just outside Olympia, Washington, Kathleen is a mother of four and grandmother of eight. Her stories reflect a lifelong interest in nature, responsibility, and the search for meaning in an ever-changing world
